Callow Top is the ideal base from which to explore the area’s natural
beauty, with numerous picturesque walks that lead from the park,
following the course of the River Dove, running right into the heart of
Dovedale.
In this dramatic limestone ravine, you can cross the river on the
iconic large stepping-stones, discover the local wildlife and rare wild
flowers, and enjoy the shelter of secluded woodlands.

The river and the trails continue their passage onto the Manifold Valley, where you can see some of the most spectacular scenery in the Peak District National Park.

Closer, is the now famous Tissington Trail, less than 500 yards away, which you can explore on foot or bicycle. The Tissington Trail set up by the Peak National Park is a scenic route 13 miles in length, running from Mapleton Lane, north of Ashbourne, to Parsley Hay. The trail follows the old Buxton to Ashbourne railway and from here you can escape into the secluded countryside, a blissful setting without the interference of cars, pollution or noise. From here you can join other walking routes, allowing you to explore the calm natural scenic beauty of the Derbyshire Dales, valleys and hilltops.
