October Half Term Events in Derbyshire

There’s lots to do if you’re staying with us this October half term. If you fancy a day out with the kids during your break take a look at what’s going on locally:

Ilam Park
The Autumn colours are looking wonderful at this time of the year and there’s lots of magical walks to explore. Follow the Magical Creatures Trail between 26th October – 3rd November along the bubbling river and through misty woodland. At each stop you can build a mythical creature inspired by real Peak District animals. There’s also a Kids Broom Making Workshop on 28th October & a Spooky Lantern Walk on 31st October.

Gulliver’s Kingdom Fright Fiesta
Enjoy a day of festival style colour, costume and music. Explore the Creepy Cave and Haunted House and discover spooktacular rides. Can you find your way through the Silver Mine Shootout where zombie cowboys await? Book at least 2 days ahead for the best ticket prices.

Alton Towers Scarefest
Taking place between 11th October – 3rd November all sorts of tricks and treats await you at Scarefest. From the CBeebies Monster Ball to the scare mazes there’s something for all ages to enjoy.

Spooky the Ghost Trail at Carsington Reservoir
Follow Spooky’s trail of Halloween scenes with hidden clues to win a prize. 26th October – 3rd November

October Half Term at the Heights of Abraham
Ride the cable cars to the Heights and meet Belinda Broomstick who’ll read your fortune if you cross her palm with silver. Enjoy the sound and light show in the mysterious underground cavern or see if you can find all the ‘Tommy-knockers’ to be in with a chance of winning a golden ticket. 19th – 31st October.

Halloween Fun at Crich Tramway Village
There’s so much to do at the village this Half Term between 28th October – 1st November. Daily face painting and Halloween crafts, watch the Halloween show and enjoy spooky stories with Maria on a tram or follow the Halloween Trail through the woodland walk.

Halloween at Haddon Hall
Magical and spooky activities around every corner. Kids will enjoy making a mini witch’s broom, writing their own spell with a quill and parchment and story telling by the fire in the Great Chamber. At the weekend you can even meet real owls in the firelit banqueting hall. 19th October – 1st November.

Matlock Farm Park Halloween Festival
Pick your own pumpkin and carve it to take home. Witch Wendolyn’s craft workshops take place every day and you can follow the spooky trail through the Forbidden Forest. See if you can spot the legendary Headless Horseman and meet fun (not scary!) Halloween characters. 26th October – 1st November.

Chatsworth Halloween Fun
Visit the farmyard between 26th October – 3rd November to meet the animals and join in the Halloween Fun! Halloween face painting and crafts, take a mysterious journey on the Halloween tractor and trailer ride or, on selected dates, pick and carve your own pumpkin to take home.
