Take a guided tour of Buxton on the Buxton Tram
Daily guided tours on an open top, vintage tram from the Pavilion Gardens next to the Opera House. Hourly from 11am March – October (10am during Peak Season).

Cromford Canal Narrowboat Trips Wednesdays, Saturdays & Sundays
Take a trip along the canal on the narrowboat ‘Birdswood’. Horse drawn trips are available on selected dates.

Free Guided Walks in Ilam Country Park Every Monday & Friday at 11am.
Meet at the visitor centre and join the walk leaders for a 2 hour walk on Mondays or choose from a 1hr, 2hr or 3hr walk on Fridays. Dogs welcome.

Lea Rhododendron Gardens
A hidden gem in Derbyshire. The best time to visit is late April & during May to enjoy the rainbow of blooms at their best. There’s also plant sales and a tea room with lovely homemade cakes.

Uttoxeter Car Boot Sale Every Sunday from April
Bag yourself a bargain at this boot sale which takes place at Uttoxeter Racecourse. From 6am.

Tansley Market & Car Boot Sale Sundays & Bank holiday Mondays from mid-March
Visit this mammoth car boot sale set in fields overlooking the stunning Derbyshire countryside. 7am – 4pm

Leek Car Boot Sale Every Sunday
Held on the cattlemarket 7am – 1pm

Alstonefield Car Boot Sale Last Sunday in each month
Held on the playing field in the attractive village of Alstonefield.

Ashbourne Soapbox Race 13th SeptemberCANCELLED
Watch over 60 teams hurtle down the hill in Ashbourne. If you’re an adrenaline junkie you can take part as well. Make sure you get your application in nice and early though! Family teams can apply as well as over 18s, there’s a category for each.

Matlock Bath Illuminations 11th September – 31st October
See the parade of decorated and illuminated boats float down the River Derwent every Saturday and Sunday evening. Every Saturday there’s also a spectacular firework display lighting the skies above. It is strongly recommended that you book in advance at weekends, particularly for Saturdays, as event capacity will be restricted this year.

Hartington Wakes 13th September
Sports and country show with events for all ages. A traditional village event with animal displays, sports events, trade stands, food & drink, vintage tractors, handicrafts and equestrian events.

Alton Towers Scarefest
8th 10th Oct & 15th Oct – 31st Oct.
Do you dare take on the terrifying scare mazes? The park also stays open late so you can enjoy your favourite rides in the dark. For little ones there’s the Halloween Playland and the CBeebies Monster Ball.

Pumpkin Picking at Shirley Hall Farm 9th & 10th, 16th & 17th + 23rd – 31st October
Pick your own pumpkins, lots of varieties and sizes available. Food, drinks & ice creams available. Dogs welcome. About 15 mins drive from Callow Top.

Spooktacular Halloween Trail at Carsington Water 23rd – 31st October
Follow the pumpkin trail to find out facts about Wylie the Water Wizard and receive a bag of trick or treat sweets at the end.
