Free guided tours of Ashbourne from Ashbourne Tourist Information Centre at 11am every Thursday and Saturday. Tel: 01335 343666.

Take a guided tour of Buxton on the Buxton Tram
Daily guided tours on an open top, vintage tram from the Pavilion Gardens next to the Opera House. Hourly from 11am March – October (10am during Peak Season).

Cromford Canal Narrowboat Trips Wednesdays, Saturdays & Sundays
Take a trip along the canal on the narrowboat ‘Birdswood’. Horse drawn trips are available on selected dates. Additional Thursday trips April – Sept.

Free Guided Walks in Ilam Country Park Every Monday & Friday at 11am.
Meet at the visitor centre and join the walk leaders for a 2 hour walk on Mondays or choose from a 1hr, 2hr or 3hr walk on Fridays. Dogs welcome.

Lea Rhododendron Gardens
A hidden gem in Derbyshire. The best time to visit is late April & during May to enjoy the rainbow of blooms at their best. There’s also plant sales and a tea room with lovely homemade cakes.

Uttoxeter Car Boot Sale Every Saturday from 25th March
Bag yourself a bargain at this boot sale which takes place at Uttoxeter Racecourse. From 6am.

Tansley Market & Car Boot Sale Sundays & Bank holiday Mondays
Visit this mammoth car boot sale set in fields overlooking the stunning Derbyshire countryside. 7am – 4pm

Easter at Chatsworth 24th March – 8th April
Easter egg hunts, Easter Eggspress trailer rides & activities for all the family. You might even see the Easter Bunny!

Crich Tramway Village World War II – Home Front 1940s Event 1st April
Go back in time to an era when Britain was at war. Historic road & military vehicles will be on show mingling with the vintage trams. Live singers will entertain you with music from the 40s and Rita’s Tearoom will be serving up wartime fayre.

Tissington Well Dressing
10th – 16th May
Visit the beautiful village of Tissington, just a few minutes drive from Callow Top, to see the wells decorated in this unique Derbyshire tradition. Each picture is made from natural materials including flowers, seeds, moss and pebbles.

Open Day & Fun Dog Show at Ashbourne Animal Welfare 13th May
Allsorts Dog Show with classes for all sorts! Visit the kennels and cattery. Homemade lunches & teas. Bric a brac, gift and book stalls.

Beside the Seaside at Crich Tramway Village 26th May – 3rd June
The whole village is transformed into a family seaside resort complete with a ‘beach area’.Fun fair including a steam galloper and big wheel. Indoor and outdoor children’s play areas and, of course, tram rides for everyone.

RHS Chatsworth
6th – 10th June
The RHS show returns to Chatsworth after its highly successful 1st year. View the show gardens, displays, shopping, independent growers and specialist nurseries all in the magnificent setting of Chatsworth Park. We strongly recommend booking tickets well in advance.

Eroica Britannia 15th – 17th June
Join ‘The World’s Most Handsome Bike Ride’ through the Peak District on June 17th or visit the festival ground to soak up a unique atmosphere thanks to a mix of music, entertainment, shopping and incredible food and drink.

Ashbourne Streetfest 23rd & 24th June
The streets of Ashbourne are filled with World class street performers and entertainers. Magic, Comedy, Dance, Juggling, General Silliness and lots more to wow the whole family.

Ashbourne Sheep Fair
14th July
Taking place in Ashbourne Market Place. Live entertainment throughout the day, shearing & spinning demonstrations, food stalls, craft stalls, competitions & much more.

Secret Gardens of Winster  date TBC
Open gardens in the pretty village of Winster. Follow the garden trail and explore the hidden treasures. Enjoy refreshments and live music along the way.

Edwardian Event at Crich Tramway Village 14th & 15th July
Re-enactors bring the World War I era to life including re-creating a suffragette rally. You can also ride the vintage trams and enjoy the exhibitions and woodland trail.

World War II Event at Crich Tramway Village
11th & 12th August
Step back in time to the 1940s. Vintage trams mix with military vehicles and re-enactors. War time songs will be performed and you can enjoy some wartime fayre in the tea room.

Ashbourne Show 18th August
A traditional country and agricultural show with something for the whole family. Animal displays, equestrian events, trade stands, craft tent, food hall and much more.

Chatsworth Country Fair 31st Aug – 2nd September
One of the largest agricultural and country shows in the country. Animal displays, traditional children’s rides, craft tent, huge food area with cookery theatre, grand ring with events and displays throughout the day, trade stands and lots, lots more.

Matlock Bath Illuminations 8th Sept – 27th Oct
See the parade of decorated and illuminated boats float down the River Derwent every Saturday and Sunday evening. Every Saturday there’s also a spectacular firework display lighting the skies above.

Hartington Wakes Sports & Country Show 9th September
Traditional country show with animal displays, equestrian events, children’s activities, dog show, donkey rides, indoor market, refreshments, vintage tractors and trade stands.

October & November

Dovedale Dash 4th November
A cross country race, run by well over a thousand people, through the village of Thorpe & Dovedale. Watch the runners splash through the River Dove across the famous stepping stones (or take part yourself!)
