Take a guided tour of Buxton on the Buxton Tram
Daily guided tours on an open top, vintage tram from the Pavilion Gardens next to the Opera House. Hourly from 11am March – October (10am during Peak Season).
Cromford Canal Narrowboat Trips Wednesdays, Saturdays & Sundays
Take a trip along the canal on the narrowboat ‘Birdswood’. Horse drawn trips are available on selected dates. Additional Thursday trips April – Sept.
Free Guided Walks in Ilam Country Park Every Monday & Friday at 11am.
Meet at the visitor centre and join the walk leaders for a 2 hour walk on Mondays or choose from a 1hr, 2hr or 3hr walk on Fridays. Dogs welcome.
Lea Rhododendron Gardens
A hidden gem in Derbyshire. The best time to visit is late April & during May to enjoy the rainbow of blooms at their best. There’s also plant sales and a tea room with lovely homemade cakes.

Bag yourself a bargain at this boot sale which takes place at Uttoxeter Racecourse. From 6am.

A three-day event of world class equestrian sport plus entertainment for all the family.
RHS Chatsworth Flower Show 11th – 14th June
Expert growers from all over the country, stunning show gardens, fabulous trade stands and food stalls all set against the backdrop of Chatsworth house
Ashbourne Festival 19th June – 5th July
Talks, performances and exhibitions by some of the best musicians, comedians, artists and writers working in the region, nationally and internationally. Some events require tickets. See website for further details.
Ashbourne Streetfest 20th – 21st June
The roads of Ashbourne are filled with world class street performers. An action packed family weekend all absolutely FREE! This is a really popular event and lots of our guests return year after year to visit.
Chatsworth Country Fair 4th – 6th September
One of the largest fairs in the UK celebrating country life. Animal displays, equestrian events, traditional fairground rides, craft marquee, country sport demonstrations, trade stands, food demonstration area (usually with Mary Berry on one of the days), vintage forces vehicles display and lots more.
Ashbourne Soapbox Race 13th September
Watch over 60 teams hurtle down the hill in Ashbourne. If you’re an adrenaline junkie you can take part as well. Make sure you get your application in nice and early though! Family teams can apply as well as over 18s, there’s a category for each.
Matlock Bath Illuminations Date TBC
See the parade of decorated and illuminated boats float down the River Derwent every Saturday and Sunday evening. Every Saturday there’s also a spectacular firework display lighting the skies above.
Ashbourne Beer & Cider Festival Date TBC
Run by CAMRA, pop into the town hall to sample a wide range of local ales and ciders. Live entertainment on some evening sessions.
Hartington Wakes 13th September
Sports and country show with events for all ages. A traditional village event with animal displays, sports events, trade stands, food & drink, vintage tractors, handicrafts and equestrian events.

Do you dare take on the terrifying scare mazes? The park also stays open late so you can enjoy your favourite rides in the dark. For little ones there’s the Halloween Playland and the CBeebies Monster Ball.
