Take a guided tour of Buxton on the Buxton Tram
Daily guided tours on an open top, vintage tram from the Pavilion Gardens next to the Opera House. Hourly from 11am March – October (10am during Peak Season).

Cromford Canal Narrowboat Trips Wednesdays, Saturdays & Sundays
Take a trip along the canal on the narrowboat ‘Birdswood’. Horse drawn trips are available on selected dates. Additional Thursday trips April – Sept.

Free Guided Walks in Ilam Country Park Every Monday & Friday at 11am.
Meet at the visitor centre and join the walk leaders for a 2 hour walk on Mondays or choose from a 1hr, 2hr or 3hr walk on Fridays. Dogs welcome.

Lea Rhododendron Gardens
A hidden gem in Derbyshire. The best time to visit is late April & during May to enjoy the rainbow of blooms at their best. There’s also plant sales and a tea room with lovely homemade cakes.

Uttoxeter Car Boot Sale Every Saturday from end of March
Bag yourself a bargain at this boot sale which takes place at Uttoxeter Racecourse. From 6am.

Tansley Market & Car Boot Sale Sundays & Bank holiday Mondays
Visit this mammoth car boot sale set in fields overlooking the stunning Derbyshire countryside. 7am – 4pm

Wirksworth Carnival & Well Dressings
25th – 27th May
Saturday – blessing of the wells and crowning of the royalty, fun fair & wheel barrow race. Sunday – kids craft workshop and quizzes. Monday – carnival procession and live music. All 3 days – vintage fair.

Half Term at Chatsworth 25th May – 2nd June
Events in the gardens and farmyard including face painting, buggy rides, dog agility course and have a go at rural crafts.

Tabbalabba Festival at Gullivers Theme Park 25th May – 2nd June
The ultimate family festival. Sock puppet parade, springtime festivities, the Big Bubble Show, The Gullivers’ Cake-Off and lots more. Gullivers theme park at Matlock Bath is designed especially for families with younger children.

Beside The Seaside at Crich Tramway Village 25th May – 2nd June
Traditional seaside fun for all the family including funfair, vintage tram rides, Punch & Judy, craft sessions, face painting, flea circus, bingo and lots more!

Dovedale Fete 27th May
Traditional village fete takes place at Dovedale House in the pretty local village of Ilam. Maypole dancing, cake & plant stalls, delicious food, entertainment and weird and wonderful country games.

Tissington Well Dressing 30th May – 5th June
In this unique Derbyshire tradition the village wells are decorated with pictures handmade from natural materials including flowers and seeds. Tissington village is definitely worth a visit.

RHS Chatsworth Flower Show
5th – 9th June
Now in it’s third year this RHS show is set in the stunning surroundings of Chatsworth House. Inspirational gardening ideas, fabulous show gardens, tempting food & drink, hundreds of trade stands, expert advice and live music make for a wonderful day out.

Ashbourne Festival 21st June – 7th July
The best possible classical and contemporary arts. Events from musicians, writers and artists working in this region, nationally and internationally.

Ashbourne Streetfest 22nd & 23rd June
Lots of our guests come back every year to enjoy this completely free event. The streets of Ashbourne are filled with world class street performers. You never know what you’re going to find around the next corner!

Dogs Unleashed 22nd & 23rd June
On Bakewell showground. Fun dog shows, doggy swmming pools and play area, main ring displays, breed stands, catering & bar, trade stands, dog health checks, children’s entertainment.

Ashbourne Show 19th August
A traditional country and agricultural show which is a great day out for the whole family. Animal displays, trade tents, craft marquee, food hall, show ring, equestrian events and lots more.

Chatsworth Country Fair 30th August – 1st September
One of the UK’s largest country fairs. You’ll find animal displays, equestrian events, trade stands, angling & shooting demonstrations, mouthwatering food & drinks, traditional fairground rides, celebrity chefs, events in the grand ring and lots, lots more. A day out for the whole family (including your dog)!

Matlock Bath Illuminations
7th September – 27th October
See the parade of decorated and illuminated boats float down the River Derwent every Saturday and Sunday evening. Every Saturday there’s also a spectacular firework display lighting the skies above.

Ashbourne Beer & Cider Festival 5th – 7th September Run by CAMRA, pop into the town hall to sample a wide range of local ales and ciders. Live entertainment on some evening sessions.

Ashbourne Soapbox Race 8th September
Watch the spectacle of soapbox cars hurtling through the streets of Ashbourne in the first of what will hopefully become an annual event.

Hartington Wakes 8th September
Sports and country show with events for all ages. A traditional village event with animal displays, sports events, trade stands, food & drink, vintage tractors, handicrafts and equestrian events.

October & November

Chatsworth Fireworks 2nd & 3rd November
A spectacular fireworks display in the skies above Chatsworth House plus bonfire, live music, dancing, circus performers and face painting. Needs to be booked well in advance!

Dovedale Dash 3rd November
A cross country race, run by well over a thousand people, through the village of Thorpe & Dovedale. Watch the runners splash through the River Dove across the famous stepping stones (or take part yourself!)
