Take a guided tour of Buxton on the Buxton Tram
Daily guided tours on an open top, vintage tram from the Pavilion Gardens next to the Opera House. Hourly from 11am March – October (10am during Peak Season).

Cromford Canal Narrowboat Trips Wednesdays, Saturdays & Sundays
Take a trip along the canal on the narrowboat ‘Birdswood’. Horse drawn trips are available on selected dates. Additional Thursday trips April – Sept.

Free Guided Walks in Ilam Country Park Every Monday & Friday at 11am.
Meet at the visitor centre and join the walk leaders for a 2 hour walk on Mondays or choose from a 1hr, 2hr or 3hr walk on Fridays. Dogs welcome.

Lea Rhododendron Gardens
A hidden gem in Derbyshire. The best time to visit is late April & during May to enjoy the rainbow of blooms at their best. There’s also plant sales and a tea room with lovely homemade cakes.

Uttoxeter Car Boot Sale Every Saturday from 25th March
Bag yourself a bargain at this boot sale which takes place at Uttoxeter Racecourse. From 6am.

Tansley Market & Car Boot Sale Sundays & Bank holiday Mondays
Visit this mammoth car boot sale set in fields overlooking the stunning Derbyshire countryside. 7am – 4pm

Ashbourne Sheep Fair
14th July
Taking place in Ashbourne Market Place. Live entertainment throughout the day, shearing & spinning demonstrations, food stalls, craft stalls, competitions & much more.

Secret Gardens of Winster 14th & 15th July
Open gardens in the pretty village of Winster. Follow the garden trail and explore the hidden treasures. Enjoy refreshments and live music along the way.

Edwardian Event at Crich Tramway Village 14th & 15th July
Re-enactors bring the World War I era to life including re-creating a suffragette rally. You can also ride the vintage trams and enjoy the exhibitions and woodland trail.

Summer at Chatsworth 21st July – 30th August
Lots of events for all the family throughout the house, garden and farmyard including face painting, craft displays, live music and tours of areas not normally on display.

Sussed Out for Summer Sudbury Hall & Museum of Childhood 21st July – 30th Aug
A new children’s craft activity every week throughout the holidays plus The Reluctant Dragon theatre performance on Mon 27th Aug.

Summer Play Trail at Ilam Park from 21st July througout the holidays
Follow the self led trail and enjoy the great oudoors. Families of all ages will be able to build dens, play pooh sticks, spot sheep and balance on logs.

World War II Event at Crich Tramway Village 11th & 12th August
Step back in time to the 1940s. Vintage trams mix with military vehicles and re-enactors. War time songs will be performed and you can enjoy some wartime fayre in the tea room.

An outstanding selection of food & drinks plus talented artists and crafts people too.

Orienteering Day at Ilam Park 15th August

Chatsworth Country Fair
31st Aug – 2nd September
One of the largest agricultural and country shows in the country. Animal displays, traditional children’s rides, craft tent, huge food area with cookery theatre, grand ring with events and displays throughout the day, trade stands and lots, lots more.

Ashbourne Beer Festival 6th – 8th September
A selection of real ales & ciders plus live music. Takes place in the Town Hall.

Matlock Bath Illuminations 8th Sept – 27th Oct
See the parade of decorated and illuminated boats float down the River Derwent every Saturday and Sunday evening. Every Saturday there’s also a spectacular firework display lighting the skies above.

Hartington Wakes Sports & Country Show 9th September
Traditional country show with animal displays, equestrian events, children’s activities, dog show, donkey rides, indoor market, refreshments, vintage tractors and trade stands.

Chatsworth Fireworks 2nd & 3rd November
A spectacular fireworks display in the skies above Chatsworth House plus bonfire, live music, dancing, circus performers and face painting. Needs to be booked well in advance!

Dovedale Dash 4th November
A cross country race, run by well over a thousand people, through the village of Thorpe & Dovedale. Watch the runners splash through the River Dove across the famous stepping stones (or take part yourself!)
