Free guided tours of Ashbourne from Ashbourne Tourist Information Centre at 11am every Thursday and Saturday. Tel: 01335 343666.

Take a guided tour of Buxton on the Buxton Tram Daily guided tours on an open top, vintage tram from the Pavilion Gardens next to the Opera House. Hourly from 11am March – October (10am during Peak Season).

Cromford Canal Narrowboat Trips Wednesday, Saturdays & Sundays
Take a trip along the canal on the narrowboat ‘Birdswood’. Horse drawn trips are available on selected dates. Additional Thursday trips during June, July & August.

Free Guided Walks in Ilam Country Park
Every Monday & Friday at 11am. Meet at the visitor centre and join the walk leaders for a 2 hour walk on Mondays or choose from a 1hr, 2hr or 3hr walk on Fridays. Dogs welcome.

Lea Rhododendron Gardens
A hidden gem in Derbyshire. The best time to visit is late April & during May to enjoy the rainbow of blooms at their best. There’s also plant sales and a tea room with lovely homemade cakes.

Uttoxeter Car Boot Sale Every Saturday from 25th March
Bag yourself a bargain at this boot sale which takes place at Uttoxeter Racecourse. From 6am.

Tansley Market & Car Boot Sale Sundays & Bank holiday Mondays
Visit this mammoth car boot sale set in fields overlooking the stunning Derbyshire countryside. 7am – 4pm

Ashbourne Sheep Fair 8th July
Taking place in Ashbourne Market Place. Live entertainment throughout the day, shearing & spinning demonstrations, food stalls, craft stalls, competitions & much more.

Wirksworth Antiques in the Street 9th July
Browse the streets of Wirksworth to see what hidden treasures and collectables you can find. Wirksworth also has lots of shops, restaurants, cafes adn historical buildings to explore.

Secret Gardens of Winster 15th & 16th July
Open gardens in the pretty village of Winster. Follow the garden trail and explore the hidden treasures. Enjoy refreshments and live music along the way.

Edwardian Event at Crich Tramway Village 15th & 16th July
Re-enactors bring the World War I era to life including re-creating a suffragette rally. You can also ride the vintage trams and enjoy the exhibitions and woodland trail.

Ashbourne Animal Welfare Open Day & Fun Dog Show 23rd July
Classes for all sorts of mutts including good looking chap and best biscuit catcher! There’s also a dancing dogs display, small animal corner, bric a brac, gift & book stalls and homemade lunches and teas.

Sussed out for Summer at Sudbury Hall & Museum of Childhood 24th July – 1st September
A Summer of crafts, trails and outdoor activities. A different theme each week means there’s always something different to do. Monday – Friday only.

August
Bakewell Show 2nd & 3rd August
One of the oldest agricultural shows in the country. Animal displays, equestrian events, vintage vehicles, chainsaw carver, food & craft marquees, hoticultural marquee, children’s attractions and much more. A fun packed day for the whole family.


Bakewell Baking Festival
12 & 13th August
Cookery demonstrations, celebrity chefs, baking & food village, live music, tea dances, trade stalls, circus skills, competitions & lots more all taking place in the picturesque market town of Bakewell.

World War II Event at Crich Tramway Village 12th & 13th August
Step back in time to the 1940s. Vintage trams mix with military vehicles and re-enactors. War time songs will be performed and you can enjoy some wartime fayre in the tea room.

Ashbourne Show 19th August
A traditional country and agricultural show with something for the whole family. Animal displays, equestrian events, trade stands, craft tent, food hall and much more.

Dogs Don’t Do Ballet – Outdoor Theatre at Sudbury Hall 21st August
Based on the best selling children’s book this fab show features music, songs, puppets a Biff the ballet dancing dog! Booking essential.

September
Chatsworth Country Fair 1st – 3rd September
One of the largest agricultural and country shows in the country. Animal displays, traditional children’s rides, craft tent, huge food area with cookery theatre, grand ring with events and displays throughout the day, trade stands and lots, lots more.

October & November
Dovedale Dash 5th November
A cross country race, run by well over a thousand people, through the village of Thorpe & Dovedale. Watch the runners splash through the River Dove across the famous stepping stones (or take part yourself!)
