The answers to some of the questions we get asked most are just below. If you can’t find an answer to your question ask us on Facebook, tweet us @callowtop or send an email to firstname.lastname@example.org, we’ll get right back to you.
When is Callow Top open?
Our touring & camping site opens on 16th March 2018 and closes on 11th November 2018. The holiday cottages & apartment are open throughout the year.
How do I book?
Give us a call on 01335 344020. Have the dates you’d like to book, how many people are coming and your credit/debit card ready. Lines are open 9am – 5pm Sunday to Thursday and 9am – 9pm on Fridays and Saturdays.
Are dogs allowed?
Yes, as long as they are kept on a lead at all times. Dogs aren’t permitted inside the Callow Inn, Arnold’s Cafe Bar, the shop or fishing lake area.
Sorry, pets are not permitted in our self catering accommodation.
Can my friends/family visit me while I’m staying with you?
No, we’re very sorry but day/evening visitors to guests staying on site are not permitted.
Why is that?
Due to our central location we were being deluged with day visitors. This meant that guests who had paid to stay with us were unable to use and enjoy our facilities.
We realise that some guests may have good reasons for wanting visitors (e.g. birthdays or family living close by) but to make things fair for everyone we are unable to make any exceptions. Please bear this in mind before you book.
When can I check in and what time do I need to leave?
Pitches are available from 12 noon on your arrival day. Latest arrival time is 9pm.
Check-out time on your departure day is 11am. We’re sorry but late stays aren’t available during peak season.
Dovedale Cottage, Ashbourne Cottage and Tissington Caravan have a check-in time of 3pm and a check-out time of 11am.
Hartington Apartment has a check-in time of 4pm and a check-out time of 12 noon.
Do you have seasonal pitches?
No, we don’t have Summer seasonal pitches. We do have annual tourer pitches but we only have 6 and they rarely become available. We also have Winter Seasonal pitches.
Do you have hardstanding pitches?
Yes, all but one of our pitches with hook-up are hardstanding.
Do you have electric hook-up facilities for tents?
We only have a single grass pitch with hook-up on site. All our other electric pitches are hardstanding. This means that availability on the one grass pitch is usually very limited.
What amp is your electric hook-up?
Most of our pitches are 16amp but some are 10amp.
Can trailer tents pitch on the hardstanding?
Although it is possible to peg down into the hardstanding, using heavy duty pegs, we are aware that this is not suitable for all trailer tent owners. It is a matter of personal preference.
When is the outdoor swimming pool open?
1st May – 30th September.
Is the pool heated?
Is there a charge for the swimming pool?
No, it’s free
Do I need to pay for anything on site?

There is a 20p charge for the hairdryer in the men’s / ladies toilets.
Are there any plug sockets on site?

Do you have a bath / baby bath on site?
We only have showers. Baby baths can be borrowed from reception for a small deposit.
Do you have freezer pack facilities?
We have two freezers where you can freeze your own ice packs. There is no charge.
We also sell freezer packs in our shop both pre-frozen and unfrozen.
Do you allow BBQs / campfires?
BBQs / disposable BBQs can be used as long as they are being used for cooking at least 12 inches off the ground. Enclosed stoves, such as chimeneas, can be used and also fire pits that are covered with a mesh grill. Campfires and open fire pits are strictly prohibited.
Can we let Chinese Lanterns off?
We’re sorry but, as Chinese lanterns are a fire hazard, it is too dangerous to allow their use on site.
Is there any entertainment on site?
We have a family disco every Saturday in June and the first 2 Saturdays in September.
During peak season and at bank holiday weekends there is more frequent entertainment. Please see our entertainment schedule for further details.
If the weather is fine entertainment usually takes place outside on the pub lawn. This is in close proximity to caravan pitches in Field 2 and our holiday cottages.
I like a small, quiet site should I stay at Callow Top?
During low season, especially during the week, we’re the perfect site for you.
In peak season we are a very busy family park with lots of children staying on site and entertainment up to 3 times per week.
