Ashbourne Soapbox Race & Beer Festival 2019

Stay with us for the weekend of 6th September 2019 and there’ll be lots of excitement in the local town of Ashbourne.

Brand new this year, the inaugural Ashbourne Soapbox Race is on Sunday Sept 8th. The race will start on Union Street, turn the corner to go down the hill past the market place, and end on St John’s Street. Up to 60 teams are expected to take part reaching speeds of up to 30mph!

Ashbourne Streetfest 2018

Prepare for the unexpected as this action packed FREE FAMILY WEEKEND of world class street performance explodes into Ashbourne with a mixture of daring & silliness!

The streets of Ashbourne are filled with internationally acclaimed acts. You can see wild and wacky performances with eveything from Mighty Mike the old-fashioned strong man to the now famous Wardens stopping traffic and causing chaos!

Lots of our guests enjoy this event so much that they return every year. It’s absolutely free with something for all ages.

The Beast from The East 2018

Although we didn’t have it as bad as some places we still got our fair share of snow and ice in February and March. Our opening weekend was a bit colder than we’d expected but we lit the fires in the pub, and got the snowplough out to clear the drive, so all was well!

Dan, our Assistant Reception Manager, walked to work along the Tissington Trail. The roof of the tunnel was covered in some very dangerous looking icicles. He said he walked under them with his hands on his head the whole time!

Matlock Bath Illuminations 2017

Every Saturday night, between 9th September and 28th October, there’s a spectacular parade of illuminated and decorated boats down the River Derwent in Matlock Bath. On Saturdays the parade is on at 7.45pm and 9.15pm and on Sundays 7.30pm.

Every Saturday there’s also a stunning fireworks display lighting up the skies above the water. The display begins at 9pm.

It’s a great event to visit for all the family and only about 25 minutes drive from Callow Top.

Road Closures in Ashbourne Fri June 17th

If you’re staying with us this weekend you may be affected by road closures due to the Aviva Women’s Tour Cycle Race.

The race starts from Ashbourne at 10.45am and travels towards Buxton on the A515. Rolling road closures will occur from approx. 1 hour before the race passes through.

If you’re travelling from Stockport/Manchester then there will be road closures in Buxton.
Matlock, Chatsworth & Chesterfield will also have road closures.

We STRONGLY recommend that you travel to us later in the day as traffic is expected to be heavy.

500 Nectar points = £5 to spend against the ticket price (that’s double the Nectar points usual value). Family of 4 (max 2 adults) £111 (usually £175.20).
